Board Director Wins Volunteer of the Year
The Partnership FCU’s Board Director Named Credit Union Times Trailblazer Volunteer of the Year
March 24, Arlington, VA —The Partnership Federal Credit Union Board Director, and former Chairman, John Richards, was honored last month during the 11th Annual Credit Union Times’ Trailblazer Awards Reception held during CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. Richards was named Volunteer of the Year for his inspirational leadership and commitment to one clear vision for The Partnership FCU – that by working together we can provide value to members.

Since joining the Board in 2012, John Richards leadership and vision have helped the Credit Union launch numerous new initiatives including the Value in Partnership (VIP) Program, which provides more value to members who actively use the Credit Union, and the ZipLINE Credit Builder loan, which helps individuals with no credit, limited credit or poor credit establish a payment history and develop a lending relationship with The Partnership FCU. These key successes led to him being named the 2016 Trailblazer Volunteer of the Year by the Credit Union Times.
Richards has tirelessly championed for the member both as a Director, and subsequently, Chairman of the Board. His strong initiative helped him seek new ways to provide more value for members. As a volunteer, Richards believes that it is his responsibility to ensure that members have a trusted financial partner that will maximize value.
“We believe that everyone in the community deserves value through partnership,” said Theresa Mann, President/CEO of The Partnership FCU. “Without his commitment to the vision of creating value through partnership, The Partnership FCU would not be the strong, growing organization it is today. John is a rare breed of exceptional volunteers who gives his time to not only lead, but help others achieve extraordinary results.”
From the beginning, Richards has been a true leader, and always asks what needs to be done, and then does it. As everyone in the community deserves value through partnership, Richards spends his additional time leading and exploring new initiatives, making him a true trailblazer and exceptional volunteer.
Hundreds of credit union professionals attended the Trailblazer Award Reception to help honor the top credit union professionals and volunteers. For over a decade Credit Union Times has honored credit union executives and volunteers who are industry leaders and who are paving the way for others with their invaluable contributions.
