March 24, Arlington, VA — The Partnership Federal Credit Union Chief Operations Officer, Bonnie Ortiz, was honored last month during the 11th Annual Credit Union Times’ Trailblazer Awards Reception held during CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. Since being named Chief Operations Officer in 2009, Bonnie Ortiz has overseen the launch of more than 10 new products, established more than 12 new vendor relationships, re-negotiated more than seven major contracts and implemented business analytics that measure channel productivity, profitability and risk. She and her team created a secure environment for the Credit Union through Outsourced Information Technology with a hardened IT infrastructure typically only afforded by much larger financial institutions. Ortiz centralized project management, business analytics and vendor management, and developed a disciplined approach to Information Technology Policies and Practices, including ongoing IT training for all staff and the Board of Directors. These key successes led to her being named the 2016 Trailblazer IT Executive of the Year by the Credit Union Times.

Ortiz also initiated an expansion of the Credit Union’s data warehouse, which helped introduce more vigorous reporting, expanded tracking and benchmarking. These changes allowed The Partnership FCU to create accurate models for engaged members. Her efforts supported the creation of the member engagement, Value in Partnership (VIP) Program, which launched in 2015.

“We believe that everyone in the community deserves value through partnership,” said Theresa Mann, President/CEO of The Partnership FCU. “We are honored to have Bonnie recognized for her extraordinary work at The Partnership FCU.  Her efforts ensure the Credit Union is in the best position to not only continue to offer a sophisticated product suite, but also to deliver value to members through partnership.”

Outside of her role as Chief Operations Officer, Ortiz is strongly committed to the betterment of the credit union industry. She invests in the next generation of leaders and takes an active role in the community. Ortiz provides mentoring to young leaders inside and outside of The Partnership FCU, is co-chair of the Global Women’s Leadership Network DC Sister Society and participates in a job-sharing program with a number of other local credit unions to bring product management and disaster recovery expertise to those who cannot afford this in a full-time position.

Hundreds of credit union professionals attended the Trailblazer Award Reception to help honor the top credit union professionals and volunteers. For over a decade Credit Union Times has honored credit union executives and volunteers who are industry leaders and who are paving the way for others with invaluable contributions.
