The Partnership FCU Wins Two Credit Union Times Trailblazer Awards

March 24, Arlington, VA — The Partnership Federal Credit Union was honored twice last month during the 11th Annual Credit Union Times’ Trailblazer Awards Reception held at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington D.C.  The Partnership FCU’s Bonnie Ortiz, Chief Operations Officer, was named IT Executive of the Year, and John Richards, Board Director and former Board Chairman, was awarded Volunteer of the Year. The Credit Union Times Trailblazer Awards are national honors given annually to credit unions, regardless of asset size, for their extraordinary achievements in maximizing value for members of their credit unions.

Bonnie Ortiz, Chief Operations Officer, John Richards, Board Director and Former Chairman, and Theresa Mann, President and CEO at the 2016 Credit Union Times Trailblazer Reception on February 23.

“We are privileged to have two of our own receive these distinctions,” Theresa Mann, President/CEO of The Partnership FCU said. “We are extremely proud and honored to serve those who advance and promote the interests of the public, and with the help of extraordinary employees and volunteers like Bonnie and John, we are able to provide our members value through partnership.”

Since being named Chief Operations Officer in 2009, Bonnie Ortiz has overseen the launch of more than 10 new products, established more than 12 new vendor relationships, re-negotiated more than seven major contracts and implemented business analytics that measure channel productivity, profitability and risk. She has strengthened the operations of The Partnership FCU to build a foundation for member value delivery. In 2015, Ortiz pioneered the launch of a member engagement program, the Value in Partnership (VIP) Program, which gives value back to members who actively use the Credit Union. These key successes led to her being named the 2016 Trailblazer IT Executive of the Year by the Credit Union Times.

“We believe that everyone in our community deserves value through partnership,” said Mann. “As Chief Operations Officer, Bonnie ensures it is the foundation of how we do business. Nothing is done without a purpose or a project plan, which maximizes our operational efficiencies and service provisions so that we can bring more value to our members.”

John Richards, Board Director, was recognized as 2016 Trailblazer Volunteer of the Year for his dedication to the membership and his drive for innovation. As the voice of the membership, he ensures that the Credit Union is a trusted financial partner to each member and that members find value in their relationship with The Partnership FCU. Richards does this by always putting the good of the member first. Among his achievements for which he was honored include ensuring that the Credit Union’s Board and leadership team are high-performing by fostering a safe environment in which meaningful discussions are encouraged and putting in place measures to ensure accountability.

“John is a tireless champion for the member, and with the help of the entire team, he works to return value to members at every turn,” Mann said. “He is a rare breed of exceptional volunteers who gives his time to not only lead, but help others achieve extraordinary results.”

Hundreds of credit union professionals attended the Trailblazer Award Reception to help honor the top credit union professionals and volunteers. For the over a decade Credit Union Times has honored credit union executives and volunteers who are industry leaders and who are paving the way for others with invaluable contributions.
