February 25 – As the CEO, I am always reading comments that our members send through TellUs about their experience with our Credit Union. Today, I’m not just the CEO, I’m a member and I will be sending this comment to TellUs!
It all started during the snow storm at the end of January. The DC Metro area was under 3 feet of snow and my 10 year old SUV died. We were still digging out from the prior day’s snow and not able to get to the office, but I knew that my staff would be working remotely, so I submitted my application for a car loan. I then went to our website and used TrueCar to research prices for a replacement SUV. Receiving an average price for our marketplace helped me to understand the price range for the variety of vehicles that we were considering. By email, TrueCar sent me three certificates for guaranteed low prices from three different dealerships, and I was able to correspond with them the same day.
Before I could narrow down the make and model, my auto loan was approved. By the next day, I had an appointment at a dealership and received the TrueCar price without any haggle or hassle. The dealership could not meet, let alone beat, the Credit Union’s interest rate*, and their extended warranty (MRC) was over $1,000** more expensive than the one I purchased at the Credit Union. My Credit Union beat the price for GAP, Credit Life and Credit Disability too! Now all that was left was to drive my new car away into the sunset.
Wow! Sometimes it’s fun being a member, especially when I get to experience first-hand the value of the products and services offered by our member-owned financial institution. I’m glad I’m an owner! And did I mention that I work here? That’s cool too.
