Built from a strong community of partners and members, we are honored to be able to give back to the community in which we all work and live. We believe in the credit union philosophy of people helping people, and that’s why we are committed to a strong community outreach.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
We actively fundraise as part of Credit Unions for Kids. Credit Union for Kids is the national non-profit collaboration of credit unions united to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. As a whole, Credit Unions for Kids is one of the top three corporate contributors for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (third to Walmart and Costco), with over $120 million raised. Each year the 170 non-profit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across North America provide state-of-the-art care, cutting edge research and preventative health education, and treat children for every disease and injury imaginable – regardless of their ability to pay.
Throughout the year, The Partnership FCU fundraises for our local hospital, Children’s National Medical Center, the champions for pediatric healthcare for more than 140 years in the nation’s capital. We are a proud sponsor of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten-Mile Run, which has raised over $8 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide since credit unions became the title sponsors of the events in 2002.
On April 2, 2017, we sponsored a team of runners for both the ten-mile run and the 5K run/walk. Additionally, the Maryland and DC Credit Union Association held Celebration for a Cause a few days prior to the race, with a live and silent auction in which our employees helped gather donations. Furthermore, the Friday and Saturday before the race, the Cherry Blossom Race Expo is held at the National Building Museum, where runners and walkers pick up their race bib and t-shirt. On Saturday, a team of our employees volunteered at the event, handing out t-shirts to the runners and wishing them luck on the race!
Our four strong partners, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), National Science Foundation (NSF), Fannie Mae, and the United States Secret Service Headquarters (USSS) help us strive for high-performance, exceptional service, growth, and excellence. We embrace their culture and employees, and actively take part in their initiatives. They are our community that we serve; they are our partners that help make us stronger for our membership.
Working with the FDIC’s Career Management Office, Corporate University and WorkLife, we have had the opportunity to participate in numerous events and meet with many FDIC Employees.
In May we presented “Building a Strong Foundation for Home Ownership” to FDIC employees nationwide via webinar. This seminar is designed to ensure they are ready for every step in the home-buying process. Additionally, we met with over 25 new hires at bi-weekly new employee and CEP orientations.
Working with the National Science Foundation’s Department of Administration, we are afforded the great opportunity to meet the new hires of NSF. Through interactive bi-monthly new hire orientation programs, we get a chance to meet face to face our potential members.
A focus of Fannie Mae’s Community Investment and Engagement (CIE) Office is to promote volunteerism within its employee base and to provide different opportunities throughout the year. The Fannie Mae CIE Office helps us communicate our volunteer and fundraising efforts as well to their employee base.
The Partnership FCU is a proud sponsor of the U.S. Secret Service’s Annual National Police Challenge 50 Kilometer Relay (NPC-50). The run is held on behalf of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and Honor Every Responsible Officer’s Eternal Sacrifice (H.E.R.O.E.S.). C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984 to serve the needs of spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and affected co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty. H.E.R.O.E.S. was founded in 1964 by a group of Metropolitan Washington professionals with the singular goal of assisting the widows and children of law enforcement officers who give their lives in the line of duty. To date the NPC-50 has donated over $708,000 to C.O.P.S. and H.E.R.O.E.S.
